To whom this may concern:
It is always easier to make a complaint, but
little thought goes into taking time to say, "thank you!". I'm sorry it
took me so long. My name is Agnes Fredrickson. I turned 72 my last
birthday. I am a stroke surviver, with my left side being of little use.
My husband passed away a few years after my stroke, thus questioning my
ability to be alone. What would I do in case of an emergency?
I'm in a wheelchair most of the time, but try on occasions to do things
for myself, the results are’nt always what I intended. I am able to fend
for myself, but do depend on family members to some extent.
I wanted to maintain my independence, but because of my condition, I
started thinking that assisted living was my only alternative. I would
have to give up my home. The thought brought me to tears. My mind was
solid, my body had failed me. The answer to my prayers arrived in
AARP/Modern Maturity magazine. I found F.R.E.D. I can't tell you how this
changed my life.
F.R.E.D. has provided the security my family and I needed. No longer
are they be afraid of my being home alone. Now, I don't feel that I am
burdening them. With FRED the worry of "What to do about Agnes?" has
ended. They go on vacations, get away for week-ends, or go shopping.
Without the worry of what they might find when they return.
It was just one of those times, home alone, I tryed to make it to the
bathroom on my own. I did fall and FRED was there to assist me. It was so
simple to push the red button on my "necklace" which then alerted the
police department I was in need of help! My voice is not very strong
because of the stroke. So when I tried to answer the dispatcher, she could
not hear my reply.
I would say that within 5 minutes, the police and paramedic were coming
through my front door. My pride was bruised more than anything, but the
relief of knowing FRED did work, and help was there immediately, proved to
my family and myself there was no need for worry any longer. I would not
have to move from the home that we had worked so hard for and that holds
so many wonderful memories. "Thank you" for providing the alternative I
needed. If you ever have someone in doubt about FRED, have him or her call
me! I sing his praises whenever I get the chance.
Sincerely,
Agnes L. Fredrickson
