Enclosed I return my "sick" Fred. Atter testing my telephone circuit at home, the local telephone company told me that Fred caused a short in the home network.**

I owe Fred nearly two years and feel very confident with it. I am 89 years old and live alone. I have the base unit installed at the headboard of my bed, and in daytime when I am at home alone I wear the remote control around my neck.

One night I woke up with typical signs of a heart problem. I didn't recognize it, or didn't see it so serious and decided to wait till next morning to see my physician. But it got worse, so I hit the red knob of my base unit.

In seven minutes the ambulance was at my house. They brought me to the nearest hospital.

But after testing the emergency room doctor told me that they couldn't help me and I was transported to another hospital.There the doctor told me that I just came in time.After four days filled with tests and a day after surgery, I left the hospital with a pacemaker.

About three months later I found myself during the night laying on the floor. I tried to get up but couldn't because I was too dizzy. I just saw the room on high speed turning around me. I could call 911 via my remote control. And again in a very short time the ambulance picked me up to bring me to the E.R.

I wear Fred also outside the house for I know I can fall in the yard too (special after dark) and be prepared to call for help.

Thank you very much for replacing my friend FRED. It took only 36 hours after my call, that I was without my Fast Response Emergency Dialing help. And now I feel better than without it.

** NOTE: After testing the "sick" FRED that Mr. Oudshoorn returned for repairs, our on-site technician found the problem to be a dead 9V battery in the base unit. The FRED worked perfectly when the battery was replaced. NeoGenesis Marketing has always suggested replacing the battery in the base unit at least every six months with a new 9 volt alkaline battery. As the 9 volt battery gets weak, it simply draws more power from the phone lines, thereby giving telephone repair persons the idea that FRED shorted out the lines. Should this happen, simply unplug the base unit from the phone jack and the phones will work fine. Then replace the battery as directed.
