I am happy to provide the following account of why
buying a FRED is money well spent. "We have
been telling our friends how grateful we are to have had a FRED hanging
alongside my dad's bed when he collapsed because of a blood clot on his
lung.
We originally bought the FRED because my dad is
paralyzed on his left side and we were afraid he wouldn't be able to call
for help if Mom happened to fall or suddenly become sick.
Last week as Mom was putting him into bed he fell
backwards, unconscious, across the bed.
Because the FRED was there she was able to reach
up to push the panic button and talk to the 911 operator through its
intercom all the while holding up his head and keeping him from falling
out of bed. (Dad weighs about 260 pounds and Mom is a little grey haired
lady so she couldn't have gotten him straightened away and then gone to
call 911.)
We had already bought a second panic button -
which operates off of the same FRED - and hung it on his wheelchair, but
now, knowing what a life saver it is and since the cost of an additional
panic button is only about $27, we will probably put one in every room."
